Como correr o Outcast no Windows XP

- Unpack
- Burn/mount CD1 and install. If the game gives trouble with installing follow the next step. If not, move on to step 4.
- Okay so the game didn't install properly, there's a fix for this that allows you to install Outcast with a DirectX superior to 6.1. Just look for it on the site i provided. This will solve that problem, and also don't forget to set compatibility mode. If everything still fails, scroll down here and check under 'NOTES' #3.
- The game has been installed. Now you apply the patch included or, just to be sure, download the latest patch (3.0) and apply that.
- Download the 'Outcast EXE fix', copy to game folder and overwrite original file. This will correct the disc insertion problem.
- Download the 3 loaders.
- Copy the 1st loader to the 'Oc' directory and overwrite. Set the loader to Win98 compatibility.
- Google CPUgrabber, download and unpack anywhere you want.
- Insert/mount CD2 and run Outcast, the loader will come up. Adjust the settings to highest and turn up the volume slider. Start the game.
- Alt-tab out of the game and run CPUgrabber.
- Enter task manager. Search for 'Oc1', or 'Oc2', or 'Oc3' depending on your graphics settings. Right click on it, go to 'Affinity' and check out/disable the cores until only one is used for that program. Do the same for CPUgrabber, making sure both use the same core.
- Set CPUgrabber slider somewhere around 70% and click start. This will solve the slow walking in riss field and Twon-Ha problems.
You should now be able to alt-tab back and play Outcast bug-free.
NOTES
- CPUgrabber slows down your CPU's core by sending it junk data, letting it work overtime so it loses calculating speed necessary to fix the bugs. Make sure you have a well-cooled comp or, if you don't like the idea of stressing one of your cores, avoid this step (you'll have to put up with the annoying bugs then). Use at your own risk blah blah blah etc.
DON'T FORGET TO SET AFFINITY FOR CPUGRABBER TO 1 CORE AS WELL, OR YOU'LL BE STRESSING ALL YOUR CORES WHICH IS NOT FUNNY.
- I didn't set compatibility mode for 'Oc1/2/3' at all. But should you need to, you'll have to set CPUgrabber's mode to the same you assigned to 'Oc1/2/3' for it to work properly.
- If installing still won't work, check out that site i provided for an 'infallible method to install Outcast'.
